Jessi Brooks serves as Legal Officer at Ribbit Capital, a global investment firm that focuses on supporting financial technology and inclusion. Earlier in her career, Jessi served at the Department of Justice for nearly a decade specializing in national security and sex trafficking. Jessi was one of the first crypto prosecutors in the national security sphere, dismantling the largest terrorist financing networks, to include the one perpetrated by Hamas' Al-Qassam Brigades, as well as campaigns promulgated by Al-Qaeda and ISIS. She also began the investigation into the Bitfinex hack, along with a number of other crypto-related cases involving cyberattacks and fraud. In her current role she advises portfolio companies on compliance and regulatory issues in the digital assets and fintech spaces, as well as collaborates with regulators on drafting and promulgating new digital asset rules and laws.
