Dr. Ben Goertzel is a highly influential figure in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics, and computational finance. Born in 1966, he has been a pioneering force in multiple scientific and technological domains. With a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Temple University, Goertzel has dedicated his career to both the theoretical and practical applications of AI, striving to bridge the gap between machine intelligence and human-like cognition. He helped popularize the term “artificial general intelligence” and he has been a strong advocate for moving the field of AGI.

Dr. Goertzel leads the SingularityNET Foundation, the enterprise AI firm TrueAGI, the OpenCog Foundation, and the AGI Society. Additionally, he is the facilitator of the Artificial General Intelligence conference, held annually for more than fifteen years.

Throughout his career, he has also served as Chair of futurist think tank Humanity+ and Chief Scientist of AI companies like Hanson Robotics, Novamente LLC, Biomind, Rejuve, Mindplex, Cogito, and Jam Galaxy.

Dr. Goertzel possesses a wealth of authority and relevant expertise across a diverse spectrum of fields that have, over the years, contributed to the governance and development of Artificial Intelligence and its application domains. Among his most significant feats, he has directed software for the Sophia robot at Hanson Robotics and led the Awakening Health team for Sophia's sibling Grace. He is also one of the co-founders and principal architects of OpenCog, an open-source software project aimed at directly constructing AGI, or highly autonomous systems that outperform humans in most economically valuable work.

At the core of all his endeavors is a singular vision: to create benevolent artificial general intelligence that serves humanity's greater good.
