Brad Keoun is founding editor of The Protocol newsletter and Protocol Village column and co-host of The Protocol podcast, while overseeing CoinDesk's blockchain tech and protocols coverage as a managing editor, based in Austin, Texas. Prior to joining CoinDesk in 2019, Keoun covered traditional finance for two decades at Bloomberg and TheStreet, based in New York, Mexico City and Austin – focusing on Wall Street, the Federal Reserve, macroeconomics, Latin American markets and the energy industry. He is a two-time Loeb Awards finalist, for an investigative project into the Fed's secret emergency loans to banks during the 2008 financial crisis and later for breaking the JPMorgan "London Whale" story. He has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and classical studies from Duke University and a master's degree in journalism from the University of Florida. In his spare time he is a working dad and enjoys singing, playing guitar and hiking.
