Ahmed Ghappour is General Counsel at Espresso Systems. Before his current role, Ghappour was General Counsel at Nym Technologies and Associate Professor of Law at Boston University. Prior to that he was a Clinical Professor of Law at University of Texas at Austin, and UC Hastings, where he litigated federal criminal national security and hacking cases. In addition to representing digital causes celebres such as Chelsea Manning, Ross Ulbricht, and Barrett Brown, Ghappour litigated the first criminal trial to challenge bulk metadata collection by the NSA under Section 215 of the Patriot Act. Before that, Ghappour represented Guantanamo prisoners at Reprieve UK, and litigated patent cases with a top law firm. Formerly, Ghappour hacked on HPCs as a software engineer at Silicon Graphics, Inc. and Sun Microsystems. He's an alum of NYU School of Law and Rutgers College of Engineering.
